1. Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster.

What else could I possibly have first on the list? This drink is considered to be the “best drink in existence” by the Guide with effects that feel like having your brains smashed in by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick. I don’t know about you, but I certainly have days where I could use that exact feeling.

2. Buzz Beer.

The Drew Carey Show has a special home in the nostalgic parts of my heart. Buzz Beer was a alcoholic beverage consisting of beer and coffee that Drew and his friends brewed right out of his garage. I always thought it would be something interesting to try in real life.

3. Sploosh.

Growing up my mom used to read me Louis Sachars books, such as Sideways Stories from Wayside School. Holes was the first one I read myself. In Holes, Zero hides out with nothing to sustain but jars of fermented peaches. Not knowing what he was eating he named the drinkable concoction “Sploosh”. This plays a humorous key role in the end of the story.

4. “Drink Me”.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Disney. Alice in Wonderland is no exception. Before Alice can go through the door to wonderland she has to eat and drink her way to the appropriate size. This scene is so memorable!

5. Butterbeer.

This list wouldn’t be complete without Butterbeer. As fun as it was to read about in the Harry Potter books. This drink has become universally known (Pun Intended). People look forward to trying it in the real world now as well!

Honorable Mention: Lefou’s Brew.

Although not as well known, Lefou’s Brew is another drink you can try in the real world. If you ever go to Disney World be sure to stop by Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland to give it a try. I can’t wait to try it when I go to Disney next year!

fg3fuazbmxb2wHarry Potter

I know, I know, blasphemy right? Just hear me out. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone was released in the united states in 1998 and our school stocked it in the Library a year later. I was nine years old. All the kids in my elementary school were reading it and we even banded together as a school to make J.K. Rowling a giant card that was signed by the entire student body thanking her for her the fantastic read! I had just finished reading “Go Ask Alice” and ignorantly thought that Harry Potter was going to be for “less mature” kids. My friend lent me a copy and I couldn’t put it down. In fact, I picked up Chamber of Secrets after that and subsequently attended the midnight releases of the rest of the series. I apologize for underestimating how entertaining Harry Potter was and have learned real life lessons from the books and movies. Continue reading Five Fandom Friday – Fandoms You Almost Didn’t Love

Poll Results! What are you a fan of?

Last week in lieu of Five Fandom Friday I set up a poll about what shows/entertainment is most popular and what everyone is a fan of. Today, the results are in!

Untitled

Write-In’s for “Other” include GOT/ASOIAF, Anime, Hannibal, X-Files, Twilight Zone, Avatar, Breaking Bad, OITNB, Westerns, My Little Pony, Scooby Doo, Orphan Black, and Firefly.

What do you think of the results?

I am surprised by how few Star Trek fans voted and excited about how many votes Harry Potter got!

See you tomorrow for another Five Fandom Friday!

Five Fandom Friday – Five Nerdiest Things I’ve done/do.

This weeks topic is Five Nerdiest Things I’ve Done .

I changed it to five nerdiest things I’ve done/do because I sort-of struggled to think of things for this post. I’m having a bit of writers block.

1. Visited Platform 9 3/4 at King Cross station in London. In 2007 I raised money with a small group of students at my high school to take an international flight and tour England. Most nights were planned out for us and we spent most of our time on a tour bus. One of the nights however, we were allowed to venture around London and do whatever we pleased. We chose to ride the tube, Visit Platform 9 3/4’s (We did a photo-op but the photos are stashed away) and see STOMP perform. It was the best night of the trip.

2, Named my son after a comic book character. When I found out I was having a boy. I wanted to give him a meaningful name. What is more meaningful than something your mother and father both love? So we settled on one of our favorite X-MEN Characters, and named him Logan after Wolverine. Xavier gave Logan a run for his money though.

3. Cried tears of Joy when I saw Goo Goo Dolls in concert. Everyone has a band that has lyrics that speak to them. That band is Goo Goo Dolls. Their songs have motivated me and helped me through some through some tough times. I was so happy to finally see them live.
