Summer is just weeks away and we are ready to make the most of it. I remember summers during my childhood seemed magical. I would wake up each morning with a newly found sense of curiosity, never knowing what each day would hold. I was encouraged to use my imagination. This will be our families first summer with two kids and I am excited to see that same sense of wonder and adventure consume them.
We bought a state park pass for this year so we are planning to do a little tour of Maine. We love nature, swimming, and hikes. We go to Range Pond and Popham Beach state parks often and this will be a big money saver. My husband is quite the history buff and we are looking forward to visiting forts and other historic monuments.
We can’t wait to blow bubbles, find wildflowers, and run through a sprinkler on the front lawn. We are going to make a giant slip and slide and show our kids that it is okay to be silly. We will have many campfires and late nights under the stars. We want to go to an amusement park, Funtown or Storyland will do. We want to travel to Boston. We want to roam the streets. We want visit the museum of science. We want to tour on the duck bus. We want to explore.
At night we will cuddle up with a good book or I’ll show the kids Disney movies from my childhood. We will build blanket forts and have picnics right on the living room floor. Our kids will know true joy of the summer season.
The first day of summer is June 21st. How are you planning on spending yours?
